Pastors and spiritual leaders of a congregation are entrusted with a sacred calling. Their primary responsibility is to guide teach and nurture Thier flock and not to engage in secular pursuit like trading and gambling.
Please what's your take on this?
immediately I saw the title of this thread, I bursted into laughter because I've witnessed a lot of questions regarding how most pastors fits into this digital age and how they can also benefit from the way Money is being made in this generation. Here's my take.
Do pastors own businesses and engage in physical trading? The answer is an emphatic YES. Do they speculate the price of goods in the coming months and stock thier shops with the hope that the price will rise so they can make good profit? The answer is still YES. Are there times when thier speculation doesn't go as planned and they buy high only to sell at a lower price? The answer is yet again an emphatic YES. So what's then the difference between what they are used to in the conventional trading of goods and services and trading in the context of crypto? Is it now a sin because we're dealing with a digital asset that's not tangeable?
As a pastor most expecially in this part of the world where churches and mosque are everywhere, what's the maximum amount of time you spend in the Church or mosque per week? It's usually less than 30% of your time and what then happens to the remaining time? will you sit back and wait for church members to bring food to your table when you could also sit back in your office and do some analysis and get a good amount of money? It's totally understandable if trading is not your thing but regardless, staying idle should be out of the equation because even the Bible you believe in warn against idleness and any thing of it kind.
The only thing I feel it's inappropriate that a pastor should be found doing is engaging in gambling. The reason why I'm against it and feel it's not appropriate is that it's clearly spelt out that gambling is not a thing for Christians and considering how addictive it can be, it's only best that it never be seen among them.
