It seems like it's Cloudflare-style DDoS protection and not bare metal DDoS protection as I thought it might be.

But the free tier does not look very inciting. Cloudflare can already do a lot more stuff than this at the free plan.

They also appear to offer free virtual machines for 15-minute sessions - https://terminator.aeza.net/en/ I have just tried this one for a few minutes and I'm a bit impressed. Going to see if you can install apps on it.
