Vinicius not winning the Ballon d'Or is shocking plus a bit of injustice.  After the Messi-Ronaldo era, it's actually hard to guess a clear Ballon d'Or winner.  Here Criterion is going to tie last year.  Champions League and club success is never enough for international tournaments.  And if that's the Euro, it's definitely heavier than the Champions League.  But here the point remains that Lautaro's success at the club including international tournaments is more than Rodri's at the individual level.  Rodri is not the only individual best in Spain.  Lamin was the key to the success of the Spanish team.  Rodri was MVP for Midfield Excellence.
Now come to why I said this is injustice on Viniciach.
The UCL that Real Madrid won last season was a totally Vinicius dominated tournament.   Last season, Madrid's sporting project was led by Vinny.  Yes, the number may not be Messi Ronaldo level but he had an impactful number at the club level.
Since the Ballon d'Or is voted on, I see the only reason why Vini won't win is his bad arrogant side besides his talent.  Growing bad image.  Get unduly attached to opposing players, match officials on the field.  Messi was humbled by several talents from Ronaldo.  Handling elite media was another skill of theirs.   Madrid PR tried but Vini was brought down by himself.
Journalists vote on preference.  And this is where the Latin Vini loses to Rodri of Europe, otherwise, in the criteria that Rodri comes first in the same criteria, another Latin Lautaro is 5-6 times ahead of Rodri.
 So overall this Ballon d'Or was certainly deserving of Viniciach.  Now Barca fans or Argentinian rival fans like this thing so much because Vinicius got an opportunity to troll.  And that's only natural because he bragged to Gabi in the Clasico that I'll lift the ball on Monday.  And this is a clear boast.  Although the Ballon candidate flexes with the Ballon d'Or, I have not seen him brag about the Ballon d'Or.
