Yeah, that's true, its an unfortunate choice of naming.
TBH there's a huge rift happening between two Counterparty dev camps right now.
For those who may not know, J-Dog (and a couple of others) maintained Counterparty for years after it was abandoned by the original devs (the ones who started this thread). Now the original devs are back and are kind of performing a hostile takeover of Counterparty. Some of the features they are adding (like atomic swaps) are really cool, but some (Fairmints) seem to be an appeal to degens.
Not really happy that the devs muscled out J-Dog. A lot of stuff has broken in the past couple of weeks due to "upgrades" by the original devs that weren't thoroughly tested. Hopefully things will be ironed out before too long. This kind of discord is terrible for the community.
