He already have a SSL, you can verify it by using https on his URL. The problem here is he don't force users to join using https...
There are some ways like editing the htaccess rules, that could redirect all traffic that comes from HTTP to https, and another way is to add a redirection directly for the panel admin tools, that way we can redirect all the traffic from HTTP to https too... I mean, there are tons of ways to fix this problem.
Unfortunately, the one that is being indexed by Google was the one without the security; he should do one of your recommendations; he may have launched his Wordpress blog using http instead of https, he better take action this early. its hard when he populate his blog with contents and all what Google indexed are those without a secured connection.
I wonder if this is OP's first website, this is one of the first things that you need to do before populating your platform. This is the reason why I always buy my domain on Namecheap because it comes with free SSL and once you launch your site the SSL is automatically installed.
