Yes that's correct. I'm not sure how much fees would that cost you as this depends on multiple factors but you may want to see if it would cost you less to simply deposit the USDT on a centralized exchange, and withdraw using another network (Polygon in this case). I would imagine that interacting with multiple smart contracts would just increase your fees compared to simply sending a normal transaction to an exchange.
