Would it be possible to create a qt that can be merge mined with Bitcoin to achieve this? It could be integrated with government identification departments that issue the coins to each ID recipient. They get their ID and a voting coin. Governments could offer tax breaks to mining companies that participate in securing the network by merge mining it for a few hours during the election. Everyone votes from home. Is this a pipe dream?
Its possible but it will be very challenging because not all voters are equal in their understanding on how a blockchain works, We do not have a country where 100% of its people understand how a blockchain works and those who do not understand it will be subjected to manipulation by cohorts of corrupt politicians.
And besides, there's a possibility that the privacy of the voters will be invaded; the current voting system, especially in a country like US, may not be 100% perfect, but the accuracy is enough to accept its result.
