Bitcoin is still very illegal in many countries and to many governments, but in many of these countries, what is surprising is that you will still find investors in bitcoins who are going against the government and secretly buying and investing in bitcoins. An example of some of these people are members in this forum, so I am want to ask a personal question, do you think of yourself as a bad citizen for disobeying the government? Do you agree that you are a violator for breaking the law? Now see things from a religious side as well, by disobeying the government and investing in bitcoins, are you committing the sin of direct disobedience?
The essence of laws is to ensure a peaceful coexistence among the people of a particular region. It is to make sure that people do not cause harm to the next person as they enjoy whatever right they have. Hodling bitcoins or doing business with it does not in any way cause harm to the next person,  except for some cases where they argue that bitcoin mining consumes alot of energy,  but there is an alternative source of energy now, which makes the government's arguments weightless. What this means is that, the government is only being selfish for restricting the use of bitcoin because there is absolutely nothing to hold against bitcoin.

Not all government laws are justifiable, and I do not consider myself a violator of the law for using bitcoin. With time, the government will adjust and see what we all see in bitcoin.
