Everything does not end just like that, am sure they will get another key player as long as they are willing to afford paying the required rate in getting another good player, though it may take some little time and decision making procedures, but one will definitely get another player in replacement or the departed one, because no player will always remain in the same team for life, also remember, new players are coming up and are more better than the existing ones because they are still very young, agile and vibrant.
