I think saying obvious things about how not to become addicted to gambling, as Perfectbaby does, will look like an additional kick in the ass. OP is already addicted, and it's not time to lecture like "you should have done it." We sometimes become unwitting participants in the environment in which we live.
But there is a perfect hope that if OP understands his condition, he has all the feelings that a normal and decent person has. The desire to repay debts is sometimes completely lost by addicted people, which means that OP has not lost everything yet.
I would say that shasan should not have "helped" OP with loans anymore, although this seems very harsh, for OP it would have been helpful. As long as there are people who will lend, OP will be addicted. Debts will grow—harsh reality.
I am not sure that this can be dealt with independently, and I do not know the country of residence of OP. But if you take out a loan again, I would advise you to find either a clinic or a good psychotherapist who could help you recover from drug addiction and gambling addiction. Unfortunately, I have not met people who were able to overcome drug addiction on their own completely.
