Its not your fault that whoever he designated to be in charge of dispersing funds has ghosted their responsibilities. Its clearly a failure on his part not to resolve a long-standing issue. As a sign of good faith, he should have paid you the BTC you are owed out-of-pocket, since he himself is the purchaser of your seats. But he's clearly not going to do that.
