It's unlikely that MLS has businessmen as stupid as the Saudis, who signed Neymar knowing his background (and lost literally half a billion dollars). And it's unlikely that Neymar "loves football" enough to go to MLS for a modest salary.
Maybe he will play somewhere else, maybe even in Santos, but I don’t believe that he is capable of returning to an acceptable level + working seriously.
I agree with you, it is very unlikely that MLS will sign a player who is seriously injured and ultimately cannot contribute anything. And I think it seems like Neymar will just go to a smaller league. Even other leagues might still think long term to sign the player.
I just wonder why Neymar doesn't decide to just retire to rest his body which is really not able to compete on the field like before.

After he robbed the Saudis of half a billion, it's definitely not a question of money. Apparently it's a habit to stay in the melia space and get the attention of fans. He still has many fans who remember his bright years and forgive him for his age, lack of discipline and all his other "peculiarities".
Perhaps Neymar will delay his departure so much that he will hear the stands whistling at some point.
