I don't think so. And to avoid persecution from authorities isn't a good reason for betting platforms to remove political events from their websites, as it smells like censorship. In fact, there is no reason to avoid offering bets on political events. People have the right to launch their guesses on political events as they wish.

On the other hand, what should be fought back are people who have access to privileged informations, while using such informations to have unfair advantage compared to another gamblers. That is cheating and compromises the legitimacy of betting ecosystem.
