Bitcoin truly is a gift to the world but it could have helped so many more people. It's a shame that it only truly benefits a small portion of the global population. It could've changed the world on a comprehensive societal and economic level.
Any thoughts?
What do you mean by changing society comprehensively? Bitcoin is just a decentralized payment system, it has no take on the larger economic scale as you say. And also you say that it is only accessible to the smaller people, that is a mistake, because since 2009 Bitcoin has been available to everyone, but when until now only a few percent of people know about Bitcoin, it is not Bitcoin's fault, but the majority of people did not believe in Bitcoin from the beginning.
Maybe what OP meant, those who have invested in bitcoin have indirectly changed their finances and indeed until now bitcoin has not changed the economy in a big way but if you look at the increasingly unstoppable growth of bitcoin, it is possible that one day bitcoin will be adopted by many countries so that it can change the economy in a big way. For example, now we can see like El Salvador which adopted bitcoin as a currency and benefited from bitcoin.
Of course it's not bitcoin's fault because bitcoin since it first existed has been accessible to everyone, it's just that at that time there were still many people who were skeptical about the growth of bitcoin. But now with the increasingly rapid growth of Bitcoin, it has helped many people, especially in terms of finance. Bitcoin certainly cannot be enjoyed by the entire world's population, this is the same as gold, not all world residents have gold.
