After you sign up to play, do you deposit a huge amount of money and start playing or do you put in a smaller amount to test the waters?
without laying too much emphasis on the next line of your post, yes. On top of that, I love following due process to avoid getting caught up with 'em in the future.. that being said, I've heard rumors that some casinos are probably fairer than others. These are the things you look out for as well - the bonuses and cash prizes etc...

I am reading of a case where casinos usually will come up with stringent KYC procedures when you attempt to withdraw your winnings. The implication is that these measures might be designed to frustrate gamblers into spending their deposits before they can successfully withdraw.
Meanwhile this has not been ascertained just yet, I feel the same as well... Looks more like the same thing implies with shopping malls putting essentials in the deeper parts of the mall, forcing you to walk through these other junk stuffs -- you know what happens if you were walking with a kid? They'll definitely be fascinated by these things and that's how they make better sales on junk stuff.
The casino would use any sort of legal means to make you lose money for them... ofcourse that's why they're operating in that space.
