Indeed, Man City's performance is really bad, even this time they were slaughtered by Tottenham again and again, losing in 5 consecutive matches, it's irony and a new bad history for Pep Guardiola. Man City must find a backup that is indeed competitive, ready, and ready to strengthen the club. I have never seen Manchester City having such horrible streak so far. They conceded 13 goals in those 5 games if I'm not wrong. Just horrible...
About Rodri topic, I also am curious about his future. He is leaving the door open for Real Madrid which is quite natural. But he is still a critical player in Manchester City midfield. Guardiola would do his best to convince him to stay. I don't expect Real Madrid to give up easily though. They are building an incredible squad these days. Seeing Rodri and Vinicius Jr at the same team would also be interesting after the recent incidents related to Ballon d'Or.
Some would argue that Man City's recent performance has been bad without Rodri, and if Guardiola also thinks so, he will desperately try to keep Rodri from leaving, and as I know, when Guardiola extends his contract he has a request for Man City not to sell Rodri. But if Rodri decides to leave the door open to Real Madrid, I don't think Man City could prevent him from leaving because when the player is no longer comfortable that could create tension in the dressing room.
But still, all of this is still a rumor, and until Real Madrid actually makes an official offer or gives another statement, then the speculation will keep growing.
