8 points give Liverpool a big and good gap against Manchester City but I agree with you, the season is long with 24 more matches for each club, and if Manchester City could lose many points within couple of weeks, Liverpool can have experience same terrible weeks in future.

They will have a match with Manchester City in coming days, but they don't need to win it, a draw is enough for Liverpool to secure this difference. If Liverpool start that match with approach like they can easily beat Manchester City, they can lose it and see the gap becomes smaller with only 5-point difference.
