If there will be a quantum computer powerful enough to crack the private keys, bitcoin will be least of your problems. Because that will be end of privacy as we know it, and we need to quickly solve how to protect every freaking system against quantum attacks.

We are decade away from a powerful quantum computer to give private key cracking a shot, and even with that it could take decades to crack 256 bit encryption.

Exactly. Even governments will have utter chaos with quantum computers breaking encryption algorithms. Before they become a threat, we will have the tools to fight them. I'm sure BTC will achieve full quantum-resistance in the long run. Its open source, so anyone can freely contribute towards its security. Without a doubt, miners and nodes will approve network security upgrades. It's in their best interest to do so.

I wouldn't worry about Nakamoto's wallets being cracked down, unless the coins are sold on the market. That would cause a huge dip (bloodbath), leaving many of us at a loss. At least for a short period of time. Market prices will slowly recover until Bitcoin is "back on the action". With or without Quantum Computers, Bitcoin will be here to stay. Cheesy
