After Liverpool's performance in the last match against Real Madrid in the Champions League, I now feel that Liverpool will win the English Premier League this season anyway. Manchester City may have depth in their squad but with the way they are currently performing they won't fare well against Liverpool.
In the last five matches that Manchester City played in the Premier League, Manchester City went against all the results. On the other hand, Liverpool have been consistently performing everywhere in the English Premier League or Champions League and they seem to be the most balanced team in the Premier League at the moment. Now if their consistency is maintained till the end of the season then at the end of the season Liverpool will be the most favorite position in the title winning list.
The game was dominantly played by Liverpool, but it was on the edge at some point when Real Madrid got the penalty. Therefore I don't agree that taking that result to conclude Liverpool will the Premier League makes a whole lot of sense. I think it is wise to wait for the game against Manchester City now because if they win that game in a solid way, I think then is the time to give them first credits in that they are the biggest favorite for the title. Otherwise it is a bit early for my taste as it could hit Liverpool with injuries anytime, too. Nobody knows whether they can keep their team together like that. If injuries occur, times could change quickly for them if Manchester City has their players recovered.
As you say yourself the last five matches were totally out of the ordinary for Manchester City. If they reverse that trend, it would not be the first time that Manchester City in the middle of the season becomes this overwhelming team again that wins nonstop. This is still an interesting fight for the title.
