Xahau is the new smart contract network that was created approximately one year ago by a group of architects and developers that utilized the XRP ledger as a base, but added hook-based smart contracts and other features. 

TLDR: 600 million XAH at creation. 
More than half is now locked away in smart contracts that simulate escrow releases over ~ 6 years or longer.
