There's a report this morning that Spanish and European champions Real Madrid are prepared to offer 21-year-old Spanish defender Raul Asencio a new contract at the club. Since some of the club's senior defenders picked up injury, Carlo Ancelotti have resorted to be using Asencio as Antonio Rudiger's partner in the heart of the club's defense which he's been able to deliver impressive performances. What do you think of this latest development at Santiago Bernabeu? Does Raul Asencio actually worth a new contract extension?

It is not only about the problem that some of their players or defenders are injured, it is also about bringing some youth into the team as many of the defenders are quite old. There is Alaba, Rudiger, Carvajal, and some others and most of them are in their last few years of their careers on the highest level, but the next generation has to be ready to step up and fill the gaps or take on the competition with the established guys.
Whether he is worth an extension or not, I think Ancelotti is a good coach to judge that in the best interest of the club and player and he knows how to give younger players a fair chance to make it into the fist eleven players. But sitting on the bench at that age is not a shame either as long as you are there when you are needed and I think Asencio has done exactly that.
