This has nothing to do with the actual gambling sites themselves and relies far too much on self control, which any addict will tell you is their major flaw. The answer to self exclusion from anonymous gambling sites is simple: if they truly are anonymous then they should never have access to any personal information and this would preclude them from being able to effectively ban you. In that case, the most they could do is place an IP ban on you, which they may be hesitant to do because it could restrict other legitimate users as many IPs are shared these days. It's simply not a solution or practical for the people you suggest.
I understand your view and proposition but no matter how you try to suggest a solution, there will always be flaws. Fine, they can't be able to exclude the addict if they are true to their anonymity, but I see the same flaw in placing an IP ban on the gambler. This is even the simplest of it all if the addict is using a dynamic IP. It is as simple in my country as just putting your data off and on, the IP automatically change to another.

But I like your additional view, who knows, another customer without issues living in the same country will soon be a victim of the IP ban, so it's pointless.
IP ban would really be that indeed pointless yet we do have VPN and were good to go and able to play without any issues. Any ban or prohibition will really be that totally pointless because of the possible ways or bypass. The best thing here is that if you are planning to quit up gambling then it will really be that just depend on whats inside on your head, if you arent that prepared to stop or having those realizations about gambling then there's nothing that would stop you on playing because every ways or methods will really be that available. No ban or ip restriction or any other correlated things will really be able to stop you.On the moment that you have those kind of self control then even if there's no ban or restriction but still you could really be able stop if you wanted to. It all matters with your self control and discipline.
Perhaps there is another radical way of self-restraint and it consists in complete isolation of the player with problems of gambling addiction from all available gadgets.
Of course, an exception can be made only for the simplest push-button mobile phone exclusively for phone calls. But it is clear that this extreme method also provides for the isolation of the player himself in some clinic where there is no access to the Internet or in some remote area also free from gadgets. But if we are talking about serious gambling addiction on the verge of insanity, then apparently this is the only way to stop the process of destruction of the brain of such a player.
And any self-control and self-restraint with free access to gambling from different IP, and with VPN, this is all certainly not an option for real restriction of access to the game.
