Well I don't think this is completely correct because if you have Watched the way Manchester city plays you would have expected it but maybe not as bad as they are having it but you should be expecting series of poor performance from Manchester city.

City plays attacking football and you can see that from their choice of defenders to attackers they are always fighting to score meaning they need a player who can help with winning the ball and starting attacks and that player is Rodry the Ballon d'Or winner. Rodry was a key part of Manchester city play and majority of there loses had happened when he wasn't playing.
