Keeping yourself busy is one of the best ways for an addict to distract themselves from gambling. They can find a hobby that they enjoy, or do work, or do other activities that keep their attention away from gambling. Because the problem that gamblers often face is that the urge to gamble arises when they are not doing anything - although this is quite difficult to do because not everyone has the same ability to restrain themselves, but if this is practiced continuously then over time an addict will be able to control their addiction to gambling.
You're right that the temptation to gamble often arises periods of idleness or boredom. By filling this void with constructive and engaging activities, individuals can reduce their reliance on gambling.

As you noted, self restraint can be challenging, and not everyone possesses the same level willpower. However, with consistent practice and effort, individuals can develop greater control over their addiction.

Yup that's right, I've also experienced it for some time that the temptation and feeling of wanting to gamble often appears when I'm feeling bored, such as at night when I have trouble sleeping, especially when at the same time we accidentally find gambling promotions carried out by streamers which can really encourage us to realize our desire to gamble at that time, regardless of what someone's purpose is for gambling, I'm sure they must have felt in that situation where boredom reminds them of gambling.

Therefore, this is the reason why we are always advised to busy ourselves with various other activities if for example we really want to avoid or stop gambling, because that's the only way we can divert attention in our minds, holding back may also be possible but believe me it will be very difficult for you to hold back, so the first thing is to divert our minds to something else.
