I don't see any reason why Bayern Munich should rule out the DFB Pokal as a target this season. Kompany fielded his best team in this game, but Manuel Neuer 17th-minute red card meant they struggled to match Leverkusen strengths. Leverkusen were very fortunate to have managed to eliminate one of the strongest candidates to win this championship, but Xabi Alonso also needs to maintain his team's performance because there are still other competitors who are performing well in the Bundesliga. Now, Bayern Munich can focus more on the Bundesliga while Leverkusen must try to perform optimally in the DFB Pokal, while in the UCL their chances are still grey.
Every competition is important for every team that is already in it, including a team as big as Bayern Munich, but losing a main goalkeeper who is often relied on by the Bayern Munich team will certainly have an effect on the course of the Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen match in the DFB Pokal competition. Because this time it can be said that Bayer Leverkusen was luckier because there was a red card for Bayern Munich's main goalkeeper so that Leverkusen was able to win the match even though it was not by a big score.

Of course and while everyone thinks that the only competition that counts something for big clubs is the Champions League, it couldn't be further from the truth. Think about Manchester City getting kicked out of the FA Cup or Barcelona getting kicked out of Copa del Rey, it is crap and they have no priorities. These superstars want to win every title and while I agree that winning the Champions League can make up for losing the other competitions somehow, it is not as if these players don't care. The national cups are highly interesting and there is a lot of action in these competitions as you can see. One red card and a good enough opponent and you are out. That makes it so exciting.
