Gambling is like a double edge sword and it's consequences depends on how gambler handles this sword.
I would say it doesn’t depend on the gambler. Rather, it depends on the luck of the gambler which side he gets. Gambling cannot always be a key factor in getting into poverty. If you gamble in limit and gamble that amount that you can afford to lose, then you can definitely manage the amount you lose. Now there are some people who gamble blindly; they completely trust in their luck. But as there is no proper planning, hence it might lead to poverty.
Having the mindset that gambling is a shortcut to poverty is not bad only if we have a good strategy that will be able to be making money for us. It is not easy for every gambler to be making money from gambling and that's why we ought to bet on games that will give us profits not random games that will give a little profit and game the profits back from us.
People that do not have a job or something doing that will always keep them busy are the ones that will always end up having gambling addiction and other complicated gambling issues.
