The competition in the Premier League is very high and these competitions are very difficult for Manchester United to cope with. We will see if Amorim's arrival will change some things, but it may take a long time for the team to reach a good level. Their defeat against Arsenal was expected because there is a difference in quality between the two teams.
The UEFA Europa League is a more realistic target for Manchester United because they have a better chance here compared to the league matches. The importance the new manager will give to European matches can also determine the direction of the team. Therefore, there are many things that are not yet clear for the new manager and the team.
While I agree that Europa is a more realistic target, it's also something quite worrying if they do not climb up the standings at premier league as well. We should be seeing them doing much better, it shouldn't be taking this long and we are going to need to see them do much better without a doubt.
If they end up doing nothing, then they are not going to get the results at premier league they were hoping for neither. They didn't hired Amorim just to do well at Europa, they hired him so they would do well at Premier league as well. They should finish in top 7 or so, and go to UEFA competitions on their own merit as well, I understand top 4 is no longer a possibility so they won't go to UCL, but at least be n top 7. Then, if they do win Europa, they could still go to UCL.
