o matter how rich I get, I do not think I would be risking throwing away $30 million. I am also sure that the French authorities are making moves after this ridiculous amount of money betted to prevent encouraging their citizens from following in the gambler's footsteps. But I think instead of punishing the platform, the government should focus on how can they 'control' their citizens' gambling habits. Focusing on one platform will not eradicate people who would continue to bet this huge amount of money.

The important thing about this aspect is if a person is using the amount that they can afford to loose to gamble, if a person can afford to loose $30m in gambling, which sounds outrageous anyway, then let him go ahead. If you can not afford to loose $1 then there's no need using it to gamble, that is the summary of the matter for me. There is nothing much that the french government or any other country can do about excessive gambling or gambling addiction, except they want to ban it in their country. If you mandate the limit for gambling, desperate gamblers will find ways to bypass the law so the only thing that authorities can do is to advocate for responsible gambling.
