Both men are incredibly strong-willed. If their interests clash, could Trump end up kicking Musk out? It wouldn’t be the first time. Remember, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson found out he was fired through a tweet. So, if Musk’s interests ever conflict with Trump’s, could he face a similar fate?
Trump visions for make America great again kind of aligned with Elon Musk, so that brought both of them together, and not only that during Trump's first administration, I kind of saw he supported most of Elon Musk projects on space x by reducing tax, space x was almost all over the news, this is where this unity came in after that Musk saw the difference between Joe Biden's administration and Trump's administration he was left with than to support him with full chest seeing that Trump will make things work again for the Americans.
As far as I know, Trump is not a supporter of electric vehicles and has criticized the electric vehicle industry even during the campaign. But then he suddenly changed his tune and praised electric cars, saying he had no choice because Elon had publicly supported him.

Elon and the Democratic Party have had a pretty good relationship for years, but that relationship began to fray when Biden ignored Elon at an electric vehicle summit at the White House. It was a big EV summit because Biden is a big supporter of the EV industry but he didn't invite Elon and Tesla to the summit.

By the way, I think they have one thing in common, they both love freedom of speech.
