Perfecto! Why bench him for not scoring a penalty? Its okay for a player to have a bad season, but I'm certain he'll be back to break the ankles of all these defenders in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti should learn how France utilized Kylian Mbappe during the fifa world cup against Argentina. They should free him up and not play him as a number nine, that's the best way to unlock his potential. Well, it's goodnews to see Vini and Alaba return to full training.

I don’t think any player should lose his spot for missing a penalty because even the best players miss crucial penalties as well. But we all know this case is more than just missing a crucial penalty, the truth is Mbappe hasn’t been his best since he moved to Real Madrid. Mbappe needs Real Madrid more than they need him. They shouldn’t have signed Mbappe because they didn’t really need him. Vini had that position covered, I think Real Madrid signed Mbappe because he was a free agent and they wanted another star player in their squad. From the look of things, bringing Mbappe to the squad kinda changed the dynamics of the team. IMO benching Mbappe could be the only way to get him to take his spot in the team seriously.

Benching a player goes beyond missing important penalty in the space of three games. It is also dependant on how the player behave on the pitch, training and if the player want to take responsibility for his mistakes. Mbappe has been disappointing even outside missing the penalty especially against Liverpool match in tge Champions.

Ancelloti has also spoken about him still being among the key penalty takers, that he is not changing anyone role and I think he will stick to this till further notice. Mbappe in today's game has been given to number nine tole and I hope he can do better in this game.
