Alas, I've become so jaded with respect to this forum that I more often than not doubt the genuineness of posts, especially ones coming from new accounts.  But I'm sure you're aware that being here for years and seeing all sorts of morons abusing what bitcointalk has to offer can do that to you.

On a semi-related note, I've been browsing reddit recently and was never that familiar with the site since my early experiences with it sucked, and in doing so I noticed that an OP will start a thread with a question and a lot of times most of the responses will give the same answer in various forms.  Obviously nobody reads there, either, but there aren't any signature campaigns on reddit.  That's somewhat reassuring, since now I realize that when the same thing happens here it's not solely because people are trying to earn money.  Still, it's annoying as hell.
