I've put myself in a difficult situation and I have many restless nights and nightmares because of this. I don't think I'm a bad sports bettor, in fact many of my predictions win, but I am addicted to parlays and I have been chasing my losses for too long. The pressure was just too much for me.

I am sorry for your losses but the problem is with you and not with sports betting. Just like every other thing in life, gambling and betting also require some study and understanding. I do not understand why people just jump into gambling/betting without first knowing how to bet/gamble?

Betting is not just blindly making a bet and hoping to win. If you manage your money on every bet, there will be no stress and you won't be chasing losses. In fact, the gambler who do sports betting with money management plans never need to chase losses. It is important to maintain overall profit and with risk management, you can achieve it.
