It has been noticed that during festive periods such as Christmas, Easter, sallah, etc the food prices are at their peak leaving the consumers no other choice than to purchase at such amount which is not meant to be so.I don't really know why its always this way but the government has to really look into this issue.
Moreover, even at normal periods when there is no celebration at hand the price of food in the market is alarming. This could render the consumer not to have purchasing power over the goods in the market.Over the past 12 months, the average food inflation rate rose to 38.67%, a substantial increase of 11.58 percentage points compared to 27.09% in November 2023.This is not a welcome approach and the government should get all hands on deck quickly on this matter cause if the whole nation should go hungry there would be no one to support the labour force and that would bring about a bad economy.
