Unconsciously, they develop an addiction that initially did not exist at all, but because of the habits that are done slowly, addiction occurs even though it is not realized. The behavior of continuing to gamble is also because of wrong thinking such as they are confident that they will be able to win for sure while there is no sure way to win and in fact they are only chasing luck which they should not do because it will only make them addicted and difficult to get out. Someone who is trapped in a cycle of addiction will find it difficult to get out or recover even though they get outside help as is usually discussed, help from psychologists or families who encourage them, but that does not guarantee it either because the main key is in the addict himself.
I haven't tried to make money in gambling for a long time, for me it's just a game for fun, maybe that's why sometimes I just get bored of playing and I take a break. Actually, when I was more passionate about gambling, I also had similar breaks for various reasons, either because I got bored with it or more often because I simply didn't have enough time for gambling. Therefore, it's hard for me to imagine a situation in which I could become addicted to it.
