I don't think any of us would have predicted anything similar to this after Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4:0 in October but this is actually the reality at the moment. Barcelona started the season on a very good note and were even tipped by many to reclaim the league title at the end of the season but the Catalonian club have had very poor results in recent times and are now trailing league leaders by three points and second player Real Madrid by two points. If both Madrid clubs wins their outstanding games, Barcelona will be 6 and 5 points behind respectively.
This provides quite some interesting insights into how this season went for Barcelona so far. +29 goals and yet they rarely win their games now. That is why these games that Barcelona won early in the season scoring a ton of goals are worthless if they can't be consistent.
Atletico Madrid is interesting as they now show the consistency that everyone was expecting from Barcelona this season. I didn't think that Atletico could turn into a favorite for the title, but they have made some immense progress over the course of the last few months. They now have what is needed to go a long distance and I am curious to see how they will perform in the Champions League. Maye they should be taken very seriously.
Yea, personally it is very worrisome to see a team that started well from the begining of the season to be on lapses like in the case of Barcelona, currently Barcelona is not a team to bet on freely again unless one wants to bet on goals, this lapses is becoming very serious, currently athletico Madrid has outshined both Barcelona a d Realmadrid to sit in the first position in the league standing, your statement is right, there is no need to give fans and the club management false hope if they weren't planning to keep up till date in their performance.
I love how events are turning to be, Athletico Madrid has shown a high level of performance recently as such am begining to think that they are ready to make a good wave for the team, there match with Barcelona made me to believe that they are really serious with there games, though there performance in other matches lately is a sign that they are ready for anything this season and I wont be surprised if they win the Spanish laliga title this season,
