This provides quite some interesting insights into how this season went for Barcelona so far. +29 goals and yet they rarely win their games now. That is why these games that Barcelona won early in the season scoring a ton of goals are worthless if they can't be consistent.
Atletico Madrid is interesting as they now show the consistency that everyone was expecting from Barcelona this season. I didn't think that Atletico could turn into a favorite for the title, but they have made some immense progress over the course of the last few months. They now have what is needed to go a long distance and I am curious to see how they will perform in the Champions League. Maye they should be taken very seriously.
Something seems to be happening and perhaps Barcelona are struggling to win games now and the fatigue factor could have a negative effect as they are forced to play a full game without rotation by the manager. A big win early in the season is of no use now as they will almost certainly struggle to reach the top of the table which is very difficult.
Atletico Madrid have shown a big change and they are unbeaten in their last ten games if I am not mistaken.
If they can maintain their consistency then they have a good chance of winning La Liga this season. Although Real Madrid are the strongest challengers this season and will not give Atletico Madrid an easy chance to win the title.
My opinion is that some games in the beginning went too well for them. When they had these huge wins 7-0 against Valladolid and then 4-1 against Girona and then 5-1 against Villareal. There isn't much to think other than this is the best Barcelona ever, but as I said maybe that is the mistake. Some games go like that, one team scores and scores and it is like Inter Milan beating Lazio 6-0. Neither is Lazio that bad as a standard nor is Inter Milan that good as a standard.
Then one major point in time was when Barcelona cracked some of the big nuts like Bayern. Everybody thought that this must be the next Champions League winner and now they are at least 3 points, but probably 6 points behind in La Liga. Flick is getting under pressure, but I think the media is still quite calm. It is all because of the good start I suppose, but this will turn against him soon if they don't play better.
