People who enjoy their jobs may not want to retire but let’s be honest here, how many people get up in the morning & enjoy going to work?

A few. This is one of them:

Seems like a coping mechanism for people to say they don’t want to retire. I think if we were all offered a lottery win & to be able to travel the world, having fun every day, spending time with family instead, we would all take it.

I explained that in the OP. You'd go around the world one year, but you'd keep going around the world for 30 years?

This thread is in contrast to the following one:

Financial Independence Retire Early [F.I.R.E]

It's not that I want to make a competition between the two threads, far from it, but I have long thought that even if the time comes when I accumulate so much wealth that I can retire, even before the ordinary retirement age, I don't plan to do so. I will first quote part of what I said in that thread:

It's a bit depressing that you are unable to detach yourself from work so much that you cannot live without it.

You get depressed because you are bitter, while I am happy.

There are plenty of things that can keep you busy in life that so not revolve around exchanging your time for money. If you need do feel like you're contributing then you could replace it with charity or volunteer work.

No kidding

I could quite happily find productive ways to spend my time in the week without having to work a 9-5.

That's what I'm talking about, which you don't seem to have noticed.
