One way to conserve produce is to buy foodstuff as you see your average food needs. Excess can be given to needy, which can be your next door neighbor or a local slum or maids.
It does hurt to see certain people wasting food, but from where I live, wastage is minimal and either they feed to to animals or to the needy slum kids.
Statistics may so otherwise, but as long as we are doing as much we can, it is fine.
by not doing waste food, everything needs to be arranged as economically as possible, especially in terms of food that covers the needs of many people, because the loss of food or crop failure is one of the causes of starvation which is a disaster for everyone, therefore buying food that is in accordance with the portion that you eat without being excessive is much better.
