New investors should consider ETFs as a beginner-friendly option, but experienced investors like Douglas Boneparth prefer to hold bitcoin directly, for more control and security.
New investors should stay away from ETFs. In fact everybody should, as this is not your bitcoin. The main difference between bitcoin and traditional financial instruments is self custody and by choosing a bitcoin ETF you're giving it up. Why not just put your money in the bank and get 5% a year instead?
The main reason why you should hold bitcoin and not stocks is lack of trading sessions and the fact that you have real time access at any point in time. You hold Microsoft stock, their building gets targeted by terrorists and blew up, you lose almost everything. You buy Tesla, Musk gets killed in a car crash and you lose money. With bitcoin it's completely different. The whole US could be nuked and you'd still have your coins and be able to exchange them. Try doing the same with ETF if for instance the company that holds it on behalf of the ETF gets in trouble.
IMO there's no new investor or old investor when it comes to understanding bitcoin. You either do or you don't.
