After losing the T20 series, the Sri Lankan team started the ODI series with a loss in the first game. I wouldn't mind if they have lost after fighting but here they had no idea how to bat in an ODI game. They got all out for 178 runs and it never looked at anytime that they had any intent to make any partnerships. Sri Lanka lost their top 4 wickets at 23. At that time Avishka Fernando made 56 runs and Janith Liyanage made 36 runs. Once those players were out, no one was there who could take Sri Lanka out of trouble.

Sri Lanka's batting is a nightmare and needs to be improved instantly otherwise they will lose this series too. The next match is on Wednesday, still some days for the Sri Lanka team to focus on batting.
As we have Sri Lanka in last T20I mostly were expecting it is going to be a good fight in ODI, but we have good control of game from start for New Zealand as their bowlers started impressively and not allow any Sri Lankan batsman to stay and create problems for them, we have 7 batsmen bowled out on single digit with Avishka Fernando 56, Janith Liyanage 36 and Wanindu Hasaranga 35 were main scorer for Sri Lanka.
Matt Henry took 4 wickets, and we have good support from T20i series hero Jacob Duffy with 2 wickets while young Nathan Smith also took 2 wickets. In chase, we have no problems for New Zealand with Will Young 90 and Rachin Ravindra 45 give 93 runs opening stand while we have 29 runs from Mark Chapman they ended match in just 26 overs.
