Manchester United is currently ranked 13th in the Premier League standings and they have a 13 point gap from the Champions League zone. It is absolutely unreasonable to expect teams in the Champions League zone and Europa League zone to go down and lose many of their next matches, while Manchester United has a difficult mission to win 3 points in all its matches.
In fact, I'm not sure Manchester United can win a position in the Europa League zone this season, but they have a chance in another way and that is to win the Europa League this season. Manchester United can maximize that opportunity if they want to participate in the Europa League next season, but I also know that it is a very difficult mission for Amorim.
But when competing in the Europa League they played a little better and so far they are unbeaten in the Europa League since Amorim became coach. Of course many doubt Manchester United because they have not performed well in the Premier League so the fight for the trophy will be much more difficult to achieve. But as previously discussed and maybe in this League it is their only hope to qualify for the Champions League so Amorim will try his best to achieve it.
Most people would probably think the same and I doubt it too but when they focus on doing it then it is not impossible for Manchester United to succeed. The transfer market might provide a little certainty on how they can recruit additional players to make the team stronger and more solid.
