I did give away over 20 bitcoin to total strangers with my bitcoin faucet websites back in 2014 to 2017.
Since you're posting this on the Reputation board: I assume you earned more than (the value of) 20 Bitcoin from ads on the site, right?
Maybe back in the day these 20 Bitcoins didn't looked something huge, but when we look at current value, it's over $2 million, what is crazy.
If you're in Bitcoin long enough, everyone gets their own version of the pizza story. But as I once read on the WO-thread: "that's the problem we
want to have". As long as you don't sell (or use) everything

People always were saying that faucets is waste of time, partially it's true. But when you look how many people were introduced to Bitcoin through faucets, it played huge role.
That's true. My first forum post was about an impossible captcha on a Bitcoin faucet.
Faucets were a big thing back in the day. You can’t really say they were a waste of time because you could actually accumulate a decent amount of Bitcoin.
Even though faucets paid just cents in dollars, at least back then the Bitcoin amount was enough to experience making small transactions. It's really sad that part of Bitcoin is gone: I can't let my kids experience sending and receiving Bitcoin many times.
