I was browsing through X yesterday and came across a video featuring Elon Musk discussing how science can be elevated through funding from cryptocurrency. However, I later confirmed that the video was AI-edited. This raises concerns for me: do we really think it's a good idea for science to rely on cryptocurrency's influence in the future? If this happens, will it impact DeSci projects like BIO and make them as strong as established cryptocurrencies like BTC and ETH?
For people that is hearing DeSci for the first time, it is a Decentralized Science (DeSci) that has the potential to revolutionize the way scientific research is funded and conducted. By leveraging blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, and it can promote transparency, accessibility, and community-driven innovation.
Well, coming from a science background I can tell you there is no problem with finding investors as long as you are not picky about what you want to research. But when you want someone to fund your own original research, it is a huge hassle to find the right investor who will be interested. But that is because not all research is 'profitable' and obviously the investors want to see a return on their investment.
I do not think the solution is decentralized nor has anything to do with blockchain.
