WC was not an actual clone of BC... it had about zero to do with Blackcoin's codebase. WC was a shitty Novacoin clone that didn't actually have the code to go full PoS, and now new developers are scrambling to fix it.

WC was a 'clone' in name only because the original dev wanted to ride on Blackcoin's success.

Rat4 had nothing to do with any of it. I watched the WC IRC for a while during their crisis, they wanted to get Rat4 but it seemed he wouldn't respond..
