Ironically, in the USA there is also a way for people to declare their losses due to gambling and get a discount on the money they need to give to the IRS.
That’s really interesting. I feel like in other countries they would argue that it’s the gambler’s fault for gambling in the first place and losing money so they shouldn’t care about discounting them or whatever.
Though, it must be clear: The government itself is not behind the increasing growth of the gambling industry. It is about private companies wanting to capitalize on the edge of the house and the huge volume of people willing to risk money.
The government is not directly the reason, yes, but they still contribute to it of course. Like USA allowing discounts allow people to gamble more confidently and more people would be inclined to gamble if supported by the government and not punished.
