Happy New Year to everyone Including Secret FATFIRE Retards. I love you all, regardless  Wink

I've heard from personal trainers I've talked with, but pushups are not a part of my routine.
Personal trainers have to sell multiple exercise setups to attract the masses, but if you are honest, you only need Pushups - Pull ups - Squats to build a healthy ripped body and ofc good diet (Adding weight is a big bonus).

I shifted my routine to body weight exercise and rings completely and more than happy with the overall experience, compared to when I was in my 20s, atm in my mid 30s.

Edit

I have an okay experience in wrestling and yoga (not western yoga  Grin).

Happy new year!  The trainer comment was more about doing them slowly and not fast, although most of them were doing various setups, I wasn't paying them though just conversations. Only doing 3 things would become very boring for me, very quickly. When I've focused on a small number of exercises repeated, I hit plateaus easier... both physically and probably psychologically, plus I feel like joint pain was worse doing the same things. It keeps things engaging for me to switch it up and confuse muscle groups, plus it adds more cardio/aerobics mixed in, both of which I've wanted/needed to incorporate.

Pull-ups and squats I've always enjoyed, pullups always made sense to me because the muscles used felt like they translated more to my everyday living and made things easier, although I haven't done pull-ups recently, I don't have a bar anymore to do them on, I guess I could just do them on a tree or something but atm it's cold outside lol, squats yes, and I've mixed in some yoga stuff, although it would be the western type Smiley   not very exciting by itself but once you get your heart rate up, some poses become more challenging to hold, so I've done some of that but not a lot. Rings sound like a great idea but I definitely don't have those at home and probably not ready for them!

 Cheesy
Yeah, with body weight it gets boring quickly. I try to mix things with a weighted vest and weights and also have a full monkey bar cage setup in the backyard for my kids, nephews, and nieces (Joint family), so it helps. Although now I'm thinking of adding a new toy maybe something like Quantum Trainer Pro2. Have to find a good supplier in my country India, which is a tough cookie.

If you are above 50 then try Surya namaskar (Sun salutations). It covers full body movement and you can adjust intensity according to your body and try with progression. If the body allows then complete this asanas cycle with the addition of 8-12 repetitions. If not, then 2-3 repetitions. I have a personal yoga instructor, my better half.  Grin

Rings are different breed. I used to consider myself a strong guy but got exposed and humbled when switched my routine to rings. It took almost a year to reach an intermediate level and Still not strong enough to get a desired workout. I mean can't even complete 3 sets of dips with 5-7 kg weight and forget about normal muscle ups, the best I do is 2-3 muscle ups with very bad form. Pull ups- Chin ups are easy on rings because no extra pressure on joints. Push ups are great due to the range of motion, all you have to do is take care of balance and it gets easier.
