It's quite interesting to see Manchester City battle from bottom in this season's UEFA Champions League when they are one of our predicted champions league winners for this season and it begs one to ask questions like what's fundamentally wrong with the club and what have caused this sudden dramatic change in their performance. Whereas Manchester City is still working with Pep Guardiola as their head coach. The weird part of Manchester City's games this season is that they take most of the possession, shots on target and pass accuracies yet they end up either losing the game or ending it with a draw. Maybe the club needs to work more on its defensive frailties and also work hard on scoring more goals when served with the opportunity. What Arsenal exibited yesterday against Manchester United is a case study of how a Manchester City club is likely performing this season.
I also don't think Manchester City has performed that badly this season in both the Champions League and Premier League. They lost 2 times, drew 2 times and won 2 times, but that is not good enough considering their position in the standings is only 1 point away from the relegation zone. Of course it would be great if they could qualify for the round of 16 this season, but the most reasonable scenario for me to hope for is that Manchester City has to win 3 times including the playoffs.
The most supportive thing so far is Manchester City's improved performance in the last few matches. They have won 3 of their last 3 matches in the Premier League and FA Cup, I think that will be good capital to look at other matches with optimism. Manchester City have to play Brentford and Ipswich Town first before playing PSG for the 7th match, so there is still quite a long time for both teams to prepare.
