I am completely downplaying Manchester City's chances of doing well in the Champions League. Although they have had dominance in the past, their performance against top teams is currently not good at all. Even in the local league, their performance doesn’t seem to push them towards winning the title. Especially this season in the Champions League, they are disappointing. It seems like they forget how to perform in big matches. The next two Champions League matches are against PSG and Club Brugge. While they are more likely to win these two matches, I still have a question about how much they can achieve this season. However, to secure victories in these games, Manchester City must perform competitively.
Winning those two matches doesn’t mean they can be consistent to the end of the competition. If they’re unable to bounce back in the premier league, I doubt if they can do much in the champions league even after passing this group stage to the knockout stage. They need to show some level of consistency and a good gameplay before they can be able to stand a chance going forward in this competition. The match against Club Brugge may be easier for them than the one they’ll be playing against PSG. PSG are also in the state of been eliminated from the competition and will do everything possible to win also in this match. I can vouch for them in the PSG match even if PSG cannot be considered a formidable team in the champions league for some time now. The competition is only getting more interesting after the group stage games.
