Sooner or later China will have to lift the ban and change its policies to be more crypto-friendly because I believe that with the growth of crypto, they cannot stay out of the game forever. But they will judge its positive and negative effects on their economy, not based on what the United States is doing.
China wants money and lifting their ban on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency can help them to attract more companies in blockchain and cryptocurrency industry to their nation. It can help their nation earning more money but they are concerning on effects from giving locals legal opportunities to hide their monetary trace better through blockchains. This practice of Chinese locals can affect their national money from citizen tax and I think it's biggest and most headache problem with China government.
One thing I know about the Chinese government is that they are stubborn and I don't think the ban on crypto will be lifted anytime soon although people do own Bitcoin one way or the other still in china just that it's not incorporated in the financial system that can enable benefits from it and I guess it's because of the decentralization aspect in which the government can fully control and also maybe reduction in investment on their local companies because I know for sure that most giant companies over wouldn't flinch in order to invest on Bitcoin.
