Undisputably, communism could not be easily erased out in the human society. The ideological struggles between the RIGHT and the LEFT would continue unabated. The Welfare Policies of the entire West are an amalgam of the ideological divides.
The Great Depression of the1920s  in America and Europe was an actual collapse of Capitalism as was propelled by Liberalism. It was the Neoliberal Paradigm of John Maynard Keynes whose content was of the Left that salvage the precipice.
Again, similar dimensions were applied during the Economic Meltdown of the 2008, as the Particularities of the Left were redeployed to rescue further collapse of Capitalism.
